I am a GED and Developmental Math/Algebra instructor at a community college and state prison. I excel in math, test taking skills, and general study skills. I am NOT a "drill" sergeant; I believe in teaching by application. There can usually only be one answer to a math problem, but there are many ways in which to arrive at that answer. Seventeen years has "taught" me that there is more than one way to arrive at the solution.
I taught 6th and 7th grade for four years. For the last 17 years, I have been in prison, well sort of....teaching GED classes. This has been an interesting and rewarding experience! I have also been teaching part-time at a community college for the last 18 years. I have taught Developmental Math, Developmental Algebra, Freshman Seminar/Academic Success 101, and Math for Health Occupations. My GED students have a 96% passing rate on the GED on their first attempt.
