About Eman

Even as a young student in the Troy school district, I was able to grow in my English skills by taking and eventually, succeeding in AP English courses. This set a critical foundation for my undergraduate years where I expanded on my writing by working and editing for the Michigan Daily, tutored other students, and took multiple upper-level writing courses to polish my writing. This aided me as I took my LSAT and applied to law school, having achieved acceptance from a variety of top schools such as Duke and Georgetown, with admissions offices sending notes alongside my acceptances commending my essays. I am a strong writer who has walked a similar path to you as a student. It is because of my own personal, academic, and professional experiences that I will be able to be a kind and helpful tutor for your needs.

Typically, for students who wish to improve their writing, I give students a writing prompt and have them write 400-500 words answering that question. Then, I edit the material for their chosen grade level and provide feedback. By having the students show me a few weaknesses in their natural writing, I am then allowed to provide individualized lessons on sentence structure, transitions, the creation of a strong body paragraph, etc.

For SAT Prep students, I usually ask for a diagnostic and then have them do a diagnostic during our session to see consistent errors and places for improvement. Following that, we then work on those errors through custom lesson plans, whether they are rooted in guiding difficulties with certain passage types or grammar-based.

- I believe in kindness when it comes to teaching, especially because English is not as formulaic as math or science and can be hard to grasp.
- I also believe in structure and students will be promised to know the lesson plan for the day in advance to ensure clarity.
- I plan on assigning homework that is timely and feasible so that students can balance their workload while also remaining in tune with our sessions.
- If needed, I also can aid in writing admission essays.
