The best way to prepare for the SATs in my experience is to take practice tests, score those tests yourself, and then go over them with somebody who can help you understand what your mistakes were, both in your answers as well as with your test taking strategies. I plan on doing both of those things for my students.
I began preparing for the SATs in the seventh grade, and nearly continuously did so until I finally took the test for the second and last time in the fall of my senior year of high school. My first tests, I scored a 1490. My second test, a 1570. By far I would say my greatest skill that allowed me to score so highly was my knowledge of the right strategies on how to take standardized tests, especially the SAT. I hope to impart that knowledge.
