We begin the first class with a brief presentation -- who we are -- and then evaluate your knowledge, your strengths, and weaknesses. We will ask you why you have chosen to draw and paint. Once we are clear about your artistic motivations, we design a program that fits your vocational profile, to facilitate the achievement of your goal.
The course of Drawing and Painting is essentially composed of a list of exercises the student will have to do. The methodology implies -among other aspects- that each student works the exercises at his own place and advances progressively; in that same measure the complexity of these exercises will be increased.
The Foundations in Drawing and Painting Program is based on the atelier model, which allows the student to develop, on the one hand, his or her skills and progress gradually in the acquisition of theoretical-practical knowledge; on the other hand, to acquire the necessary knowledge to achieve mastery of the instruments and materials of work; of course, according to his or her own rhythm and process. This allows him to deepen in each exercise, develop the required skills until they are really mastered, and from there advance to the next more ambitious and complex project.
The time that the student spends in advancing through the whole program will depend on the rhythm of his own process: that is to say, on the number of hours that he dedicates to the study.
With this Foundations in Drawing and Painting Program you will learn to:
-Train your eyes to be rigorous.
-Acquire the procedure to make an analytical study drawing.
-Work the concepts of chiaroscuro and tonal evaluation.
-Learn basic concepts of anatomy, gesture, and proportion.
-Assimilate the process to make an analytical study drawing.
-Practice concepts of hue and saturation subject to the theory of colour and based on tonal assessment.
-Recognize pigment colours and mixtures between them.
-To know graphic expressive resources for the representation of what we want.
