I tailor my lessons to the students. Some students have lived in the U.S. for years, and others have just arrived. I start out a lesson by reviewing the elements of the previous class. Then I move on to new material. At the end, I review what we have learned. I allow my students to converse with each other a lot.

Dear hiring committee:
I have had the pleasure of knowing Emily Viglielmo for many years as a professional colleague at Honolulu Community College in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is one of my most trustworthy co-workers, and I’m happy to write a recommendation letter for her. Bahareh has many qualities, but there are particularly three that shape her personality and make her the perfect fit for your position.
First, Emily has a very positive outlook on life, which makes her presence a pleasant addition in any situation. Even in the most adverse situations, Emily’s growth mindset allows her to stay persistent. For example, when I was struggling teaching remedial English at HonCC, Emily was the one to not only show empathy but also to cheer me on and motivate me to continue to try alternative teaching strategies to help my struggling learners.
Another quality of Emily is her listening and observation skills. Whenever someone is in need, student or colleague, Emily always listens to the person’s story. Emily carefully observes people’s verbal and non-verbal cues before she addresses them. She pays attention to student needs and assumes responsibility for their learning, which also plays a role in managing student behavior. Her skills are evident as her students often visit her during office hours.
Besides being a positive character and having strong listening and observation skills, Emily is a fantastic and reliable team player. For instance, when teachers meet for norming sessions, Emilis always punctual and prepared. She brings her students samples that she carefully chooses to participate actively in the assessment process. In fact, she often brings extra samples that come in handy for colleagues who are less experienced.
In conclusion, Emily possesses many positive characteristics that makes her an outstanding asset to any work environment but especially education. Her positive and creative mindset in addition to her listening, observation and team playing skills, make her the ultimate coworker. I hope she will be a part of my life forever.

I was in the same class with Emily when we were graduate students. She was an active participant in our discussions and always support her peers.
She brings to her job a high degree of vitality and a refreshing pedagogy. I have been most impressed by her dedication to students and the high-quality teaching skills she brings to her position.
she has always demonstrated exceptional teaching skills regardless of her class’s age group or diversity of learning levels.
Her students are always treated with great dignity and respect.
Emily is well educated, self-directed, and very disciplined. She works hard and is fair, articulate, and open-minded.
Emily is a great teacher. She knows how to keep your attention with funny games and she takes as much time as you need to understand something you are struggling with. I had a wonderful time with her. I highly recommend her.
I’ve been an English teacher for 40 years and known Emily Viglielmo for 30 of those years. I absolutely love her as a friend and respect her as a fellow professional, eminently qualified to assist people of all ages and backgrounds in improving their writing and speaking skills. She has experience living in other countries, writing and editing numerous publications, teaching classes in person and on-line, as well as tutoring individuals. Add her love of language, people, and life, along with her solid work ethic, and you have a woman you will come to love and respect, as I do.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Casart
English teacherI had classes with Emily while I was doing an exchange program. She is definetily an amazing teacher, she is very pacient and caring about her students. Her classes were never boring as she brings interesting topics to the class.
Emily was my first editor at my first reporting internship in1998. She was very helpful and kind in her approach. I have since come to know her as a friend and find her to be a good person, empathetic, and, because of her background, understands how to reach students of various backgrounds. I believe she is a very trustworthy and earnest teacher and knows the subject well. She will do all in her power to teach her students well.
