I present legal studies based on “real world” application. Because of my years in legal practice, I use many of my actual cases to teach legal concepts and principles. These fact scenarios greatly help students understand the application of concepts to fact and serve as a “memory hook” for them to retain the information. It gives then confidence in knowing what they know and how to apply that knowledge.

The give and take of the classroom in discussing and debating ideas and concepts is stimulating for student and teacher and provides a healthy learning environment. I do make my students work for and formulate their own answers rather than always giving them the answer. While this initially frustrates some students, eventually they develop their critical thinking skills and come to appreciate this approach.

I am sensitive to different learning styles and different backgrounds of students and I gear my teaching methods to encompass these. My classroom presentation is done using a variety of methods to give my students multiple opportunities to absorb and understand the material being taught. I also stop frequently and ask if there are any questions or if I am being clear enough. This puts the burden on me and students are less apprehensive about asking questions or admitting they do not understand something.

My goal is to make my classroom a haven for the free expression of ideas and opinions by my students, free from intimidation or disrespect by others. I encourage my students to participate and to use critical thinking in their analyses. I show respect for each student and all questions and demand that other students in my classroom do the same.

With 30 years of Law practice and 25 years of teaching, I have taught hundreds of students in the classroom, digitally and by individual tutoring. By making subjects exciting and interesting, my students learn and often exceed their own expectations by their success. any of my students have gone on to obtain advanced degrees and succeed professionally in law and business.
