I prefer to use student centered, inquiry based, and problem solving strategies for my instruction. This requires the student to use and expand their depth of knowledge in the subject area being taught. In regards to tutoring, I rely on a question based strategy in order to determine the needs of the student. From there, I apply a laser focus that is aimed at increasing the level of proficiency for the skills and content that require improvement.
I am an Instructional Coach at a High School with 95% free and reduced lunches. I am certified to teach both Social Studies and English/Language Arts for which I have years of experience. Within both subject areas, I have pushed many struggling students to the proficiency level and raised their reading scores.

I am required to ensure that teachers within my cohort are administering rigorous instruction, developing literacy and learning skills, and creating and nurturing positive and professional relationships with their students by providing advice and consent on the latest, scientifically based, and effective instructional strategies. This is carried out through a systematic and scientifically based process of observations and timely provision of positive feedback and advice. In addition, I am required to ensure that teachers are carrying out the professional duties of writing lesson plans, collecting and analyzing data, and participation in the PLC process. This is executed through a process of lesson plan analysis, provision of feedback and the leading and modeling of the PLC process. Finally, I am required to oversee the administration of standards based formative and summative assessments. This duty is carried out by the analysis and provision of feedback in regards to said assessments.

Based on observations and data gathering/analysis, I was able to develop growth minded plans in order to improve instruction among Social Studies educators. This was executed in conjunction with cyclical, cognitive coaching which enabled Social Studies instructors to come to their own conclusion on what were the proper, student-centered strategies that would increase engagement, rigor, and relevance. In addition, I conducted lower level administrative duties in order to communicate building and district level expectations, procedures, and protocols. This was all conducted with the utmost observance of developing professional relationships with my department members.
