I have been working with high school students for 3 years, primarily for SAT/ACT prep and also academic classes like Algebra 1 and AP US History. I have taught over 100 students over the years for various companies and also as a freelance tutor. I have a strong record of helping students improve their test scores, grades, and just as importantly, their confidence.

I love working one-on-one and in small groups. I find that individual instruction is far better than a large classroom setting, because I can really interact with my students and understand their strengths and weaknesses, and encourage them to be involved in their own learning. I am always asking "What were your thoughts here?" On a question they got wrong or a topic they are struggling with. By formatting a lesson this way, students are quicker to learn how to adjust their approach rather than if I were just to lecture at them how to do a problem. I always like to have a personal, relaxed relationship with my students, and this tends to make them more comfortable and therefore more able to focus on their learning than if they were nervous about disappointing an intimidating adult. Even when I am working non-stop tutoring hours every day of the week, I enjoy my job and the time passes fast! Working with young people and helping them improve their skills and their confidence is an amazing experience.
