I am a homeschooled high school senior, and I have been studying Language Arts and writing for eight years. My experience ranges from five paragraph essays to 300K word books and anything you can find in between. I have a great understanding of vocabulary, word flow, how to get straight to the point, and how to be descriptive.
My knowledge extends into testing as well, with tips on faster reading, the process of eliminating, paragraph summarizing, understanding of thesis and main point, and writing essays.
My experience adds up to roughly two years of tutoring. I have tutored entire classrooms, between seventeen and forty-two students, and one-offs with individuals, so an exact number of people I have tutored is hard to define, but about seventy students. When I have tutored people, their scores are always at least a grade letter above what they would get on their own, and usually, when taught the material once, they don't need to be taught it again.
The hourly rate can be debated, I used twenty-five as a median range. The number goes down to $10-15/h for elementary students because the subject is easier to teach in younger grades.
Travel costs are actually an added dollar per five miles, not $29 no matter the travel distance.
I am in an ongoing education as a home-schooled senior about to get her GED and go to college come fall.
I was nominated, and won, the Academics Award, hosted by the Van Nuys Airport in California in 2013. When leaving middle school, I had a chance to get a STEM college scholarship had I attended the high school there, but I moved that June. While in school, I taught parts of science and English, and did teach a music class for an entire year.
Relating to the subject of this ad, I have never been paid for my tutoring, but I have been asked by large numbers to help them out with their English. On my own time, I have written essays that have been kept by my teachers (when I still went to public school), and essays that have been laminated so to teach future classes with. I have written two complete books that have been published online, and am a chapter short of completing my third book, which I hope to be published by the end of the summer.
