Before I even get into the details of a question, I like to ask my students what topics they want to prioritize the most, so we can maximize our time together. My philosophy once I start teaching is first to identify any obstacles blocking you from understanding the main concepts and then break down the problem into as many pieces as needed. I will show you multiple ways of thinking about and tackling questions, whether analytically, visually, or numerically since I strongly feel that there's not only one viewpoint into a given problem.
I'm a senior at Ballard High School and started tutoring upper-classmen in advanced math as a freshman. This led me to become the first student manager and head tutor of the after-school tutoring program. I've helped countless students increase their grades in math, science, and humanity classes and learn the underlying concepts. I taught myself Algebra 2 and Precalculus, which allowed me to take college-level math classes like multivariable calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra in high school. I've worked as a volunteer with diverse types of students: ADHD/ADD, non-native speakers, and a blind classmate.
Some hobbies of mine:
- Developing video games
- Reading math articles on proofs and solving challenging problems online
I've always been pulled toward math, and next year at the University of Washington, I'll continue to follow this as I start pursuing a double major in pure mathematics and computer science.
All courses, Pre-Algebra to General Calculus, are $25/hour. For SAT Math Prep and AP Calculus AB/BC, the rate is $35/hour.
