About the lesson
MSME, Mechanical Engineering, Wichita State University, Wichita, KS, 1993

. Teaching College Trigonometry, 3 credit hours, in KSU
. Teaching College Algebra, 3 credit hours, in KSU
Different students with different motivation and different educational level require
different teaching approaches and philosophy. According to the fact that most of my
students are majored in non-technology area, with my rich onsite engineering and
business experience, I introduced many examples from real lives and explained math
concepts in simple, straight forward and intuitive manner.
I pay close attention to students’ feedback and communications. I discuss with my
students using the short interval after or before classes to collect how students feel. I
actively invite students to my office if they have any difficulties. I timely respond
students’ questions in email. I encourage students to ask questions without considering if
the question makes sense or not. I also encourage students never give up when some of
them feel losing hearts.
I modify my lecture notes for every new semester. I can always find better explanation
for even a simple concept.
