About the lesson

The learning that revolves around my teaching is analogous to that of a growing seed in that the material I teach is based on what we already learned, and it is up to the students--with some necessary help from me--to make the connections on how and why the things they learn make sense. Subsequently, I aspire to foster self-learning abilities so that they learn well both in and out of my presence. In addition, I tend to focus on individual weak points for these have potential negative consequences in the future of the student's learning. And as mentioned in "Experience," I focus on the big picture rather than on specific examples; this entails an emphasis on a deductive reasoning-approach to learning rather than on an inductive reasoning-approach. Of course, every student learns differently, so my teaching approach adjusts the more time I spend with the student to better foster his/her learning.

About Gabriel

I recently graduated as magna cum laude at UCSD with a degree in physiology & neuroscience and a minor in physics. I have been teaching as an official teaching assistant for three years in the field of human physiology and biochemistry, and because of my interest in physics I am comfortable teaching physics and math. As a teaching assistant, I have held one-on-one sessions and have taught in big groups (up to 25 or so students). Throughout my time teaching others, I have improved on adapting to the teaching styles of different students, have grew habits to ascertain the comprehension levels of the students I teach, and have developed a teaching strategy that focuses on the "big picture."
