My approach when tutoring those that need assistance is to begin by having them describe what they understand and what they are confused by. It is important to put myself on the same level as the student so that I know how to approach the subject and emphasize what they understand to help them learn what they don't. Another approach I use is to prepare "practice exams" for the student to take while I am there so they can become familiar with the set up of how a test would look while I am there to help them take the test. This prepares them on how to approach a problem when I can't be there to help.
I am a Junior at Kansas State University where I have maintained a 4.0 GPA. I tutored for students in middle school when I was a senior in High School and I continue to assist friends with their classes in college. I helped a friend with her College Algebra class and, as a result, her final grade rose to a "B" from a "D".
