My teaching philosophy focuses on student-centered learning and kindness. My lessons are geared toward students who may or may not have taken the basic public speaking course in their K-12 years and are now taking the course at the high school or college level. I am willing to adjust my lessons for younger students to be a bit more basic.
For me, student-centered learning is about being engaged during our time together. Students are more likely to be engaged when they feel that they can focus and be excited about what we work on together. My students will have the opportunity to share their opinions and meld our ideas together to create a great speech or presentation.
Kindness is also very important in my classroom. Life comes with lots of challenges, especially in 2020. I want my students to feel that they can share or vent appropriately and respectfully. Mental health is a large part of students' success, and I want them to be successful in all walks of life.
I am a graduate student in South Dakota pursuing my Master of Arts degree in Communication and Media Studies. I currently teach the basic public speaking course on my campus to 70+ students each semester. I have experience with elevator pitches, informative, persuasive, policy, and commemorative speeches. I am excited to work with you!
Your first lesson is $10! After that, it is $15.00 per hour. All group lessons will be $10 per student. Booking five lessons will come with a $10 discount, while booking ten comes with a $25 discount.
I ask that my students come prepared with information and requirements about the assignment for which I am preparing them. If you just need the tips and tricks, please specify that as well.
Madison is extremely understanding and helpful when it comes to assistance in speech. She is so kind hearted and truly wants what’s best for her students. She knows how to help out in the best ways when students are struggling and would make an amazing tutor!

Madison was one of the best teachers I’ve had in college. She understands what she is teaching and if you don’t, she won’t stop till you do. Wouldn’t have asked for anyone else!
Madison is a very kind and easy going teacher. She allows me to learn with ease as she is very related able since she is around the age of those she is teaching. Not only did I consider her to be a teacher, I considered her to be a friend. Someone I could go to if I needed any assistance with anything. She is also willing to work with a student if they find that they need help with something related to the class. She is willing to go out of her way to assist in any way possible.
Madison is a trustworthy teacher because she cares about not only the education of her students, but the students themselves. I found that this created a positive environment in the classroom and an enriching educational experience.
Madison is a great teacher. She’s smart and loves to help her students when they don’t understand what to do. When she is done helping her students learn she engages in great conversations with them. She is nice and overall an amazing teacher and everyone should have a chance to learn from her.
Madison is a strong teacher who allows everyone to feel welcome and comfortable while teaching what needs to be taught! She is very energetic and spunky, which even adds to the fun! I would highly recommend Madison!
