I feel learning about and making art is a journey into a world where students learn to see like an artist and discover the elements of art all around them. We learn to take those elements and construct wonderful works of art. Whether it's learning to draw what we see in a representational style, learning to use color expressively or taking young students on a shape scavenger hunt. My classes are fun and engaging. I do not believe there is a wrong way to create art but I stress technique and structure as the foundation for our projects.
My classes range from beginners to advanced. Elementary school age, middle and high schoolers as well as adult classes. Group or private lessons. I also offer youth classes with a unique look into art history such as classroom cave painters with a constructed apcardoard cave and plein-aire painters where we carry our supplies and set up to paint a landscape outside.
I have over 20 years of teaching experience as a private and contract arts instructor as well an Arts Educstor at local museums. Students range from preschool to adult. My classes have ranged from one-on-one private lessons to as many as 25 students. Special events have had more than 100 participants.
My goal as a art instructor is to allow each participant to have a fun and positive experience and learn to see the world through the eyes of an artist.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Art from California State University Fullerton.
I further my education and work on my artistic ability by taking classes through public education organizations and seminars.
I am a freelance illustrator. My preferred technique is pen and ink with watercolor. Examples of my work may be viewed at (concealed information)
