My approach seeks to enhance student abilities, confidence, and knowledge through relevant and interesting readings and writings that enhance critical thinking skills. I always search for a balance between between nurturing student success and maintaining academic rigor. For me, the learning environment should primarily be a place in which students are given the opportunity to try out new skills and investigate new perspectives in an atmosphere of acceptance, encouragement, and cooperation.
I have advanced degrees in English, world literature, and languages. I have taught hundreds of students at the college level in English Composition, Literature, and the Humanities and have tutored dozens of other students at the K-12 level. My background combines 20 years of college-level teaching in numerous subjects with my personal accomplishments in having published 5 academic articles in prestigious journals and presenting academic papers at several dozen scholarly conferences in North America and Europe.
