I teach according to the needs of each student with a variety of different approaches to each topic in an attempt to stir the interest and ability of the student. Because learning requires student expression of his understanding of topics, my approach is conversational and full of questions for a student to answer and to put into practice, . Knowing that each student has his own method of learning and that variety holds one's attention, my approach is a mixture of explaining, quizzing and lots of student practice.
B.A. and M.Ed. degree with specialty in English and practical experience in PA, CA, and CT. I have been teaching real estate licensing classes for many years through my own real estate school after I discovered a shortage of English teaching jobs was available at the time I moved to Michigan. Much of my time teaching real estate has been spent writing classes, books and other educational materials such as continuing education, as part of my experience. Teaching a class other than English, but which relies on contracts and a strong ability to understand and use the language, has given me the chance to deal with people many different levels of ability in the English language from those where English was not a first language to those for whom test taking is difficult. There have also been those students who needed to develop their vocabulary and/or to put concepts into their own words and have the courage to do so. The kinds of experiences I had made me clearly see a direct correlation between teaching testing preparation and experience of this teaching experience and the general teaching of most language-related subjects. As a result I have developed an approach to teaching tailored to the needs of the student. My patience and creativity have given my students confidence in themselves and an ability to improve their grades and develop an increased interest in learning.
