I have a Bachelor's from Utah State University, and nearly done with my Master's of Design Studies from the Boston Architectural College. I have worked with youth for a majority of my life through work and volunteer experiences. I want to help anyone who could use my help. I prefer to teach from what I know, what I can learn, and how you learn. I like to get to know the student's interest and learning style so I can create an applicable/relative lesson. I don't let my students go long without an answer even if it means I have to find the answer myself but I expect similar effort. I don't like to be distracted but discussions on subject matters is a good and educational break for those who need it and to make it worth your time.
I have an accumulation of about 2 years in the job field as a tutor. However, I have been teaching and working with youth since I was in grade school. I have taught more than 1000 youth through the BSA (Boy Scouts of America), 50+ in private tutoring classes, a few hundred through the 4-H program, and been in contact with many more through daycare settings and other employment or church services. My students have increased their scores in SAT and ACT on average of 10 points in the fulfillment of a course, learned to teach others in their own teaching settings in the English language, a child with an un-diagnosed learning disorder learned how to apply art through indirect ideas (metaphors, figure of speech, etc.), completed the requirements thoroughly for a merit badge, and learned how to work well with others.
With your first lesson/consultation it is free. If, for example, on the ACT you start out at 20 and you do not increase by 10 points, you get 50% of your total money back at the end of your session given you worked your butt off. If the effort is not there and you do not reach our goal, there is no refund. I will also charge $5 for late cancellation.
