When teaching math and science I tend to introduce as many visuals and examples as I can as this is the way I learned best. During my time at Engineering for Kids, this method was extremely helpful for my younger age group. In terms of higher level math, I tend to create a checklist of steps to follow so students can begin to notice patterns throughout the problems they are given.
I recently graduated from UF with a Materials Science and Engineering degree. I am currently pursuing a Masters in biomedical engineering at UF. I have 2 years of experience teaching kids at Engineering for Kids, an after school and summer camp program geared toward teaching kids the fundamentals of engineering. I taught kids between the ages of 4-7 daily, but have experience with children from 4-14 years of age. I believe I can confidently tutor students in all math up to calculus and high school chemistry.
