My teaching approach is that math is learned in steps. Each step must be strong before the students can move to the next step. I make sure before we move on that the student is proficient in the previous application. I also feel that students are intimitated by math. I get them to understand that math is just apart of life, we use it everyday and tha it is all around you. For instance fractions can be explained by just looking at a pizza and how many slices it has, or what could be on each slice. Measurements can be used by a gallon of juice, probability can be used by a bag of Starburst. This is just some of the way that I show them how math is not something to be feared of but enjoyed. I also use video which we look at and discuss and work on problems from there. My teaching in very technology based but fun!
I having been tutoring and or teaching math for over 15 years. I have tutored over 200 students in K-12 math and help them reach their needed goals. I believe that all students can be taught, and master the applications that they are struggling in.
I will only accept classes in the Washington, D.C. area within 10 miles of the city. If there is a cancellation it must be done within 24 hours of session or client will see have to pay.
