I believe in the power of transference; the ability to learn a lesson in one context and apply it to another. In this way we are able to adapt to unforeseeable challenges without fear or discouragement. For middle and high school students mathematics are stigmatized as dis-similar to the rest of their lives or an unpractical skill. For this reason, my facilitation style is also based in experiential-learning, which occurs incidentally and can inform most transferable lessons.
I am a mentor and outdoor instructor that has worked professionally with youth ages 10-18 for about 6 years. After receiving a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology at Southern Oregon University, I learned how to teach the technical and practical skills need for a variety of outdoor activities like rock climbing and paddling. This is when I discovered the joys of working with youth on specific, foundational proficiencies.

I have known Britney-Jean for most of my life. As a friend, a classmate, and a roommate, she has never failed to be thoughtful, hard-working, kind, and all around delightful. We volunteered together at Youth Empowerment Theatre where she demonstrated an outstanding skill in engaging with youth—teaching, as well as inspiring. She is a master of encouragement, bringing new perspectives, humor, and fun to any situation. Britney-Jean is quick on her feet, reliable, and an invaluable asset to those who depend on her. She is, without any doubt, an excellent teacher.
