The method used to teach math varies from student to student, but I find that teaching by example is the method I employ the most. Often, teachers do not give students adequate examples or explanations, and this leads to confusion. Other methods I use are games, incentive, challenge problems, and practice testing.
I am a senior pure mathematics major at the University of Maryland. I have my Associates in mathematics and have been tutoring math (in particular, algebra and calculus) for many years. I work for the University during the semester as a calculus and algebra tutor, have worked as an assistant professor for developmental algebra, and tutor privately.
