I focus on developing math as a skill set, a toolbox to be used to solve problems. I help students use math as a way of thinking, as a way to approach problems they encounter. Math is more than just problems on a paper or screen, more than just problems to be graded. Focusing on how to solve math helps generalize the skill so that it can be applied to other aspects of life, outside of the classroom. Math can and should be understood by all, so that whether they're finding the best job for their financial needs or building a rpg character sheet, they're able figure out the best results.
I earned my Mathematics Bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland.
I have tutored a wide variety of math levels, from elementary counting to college calculus, with plenty of experience in SAT math with algebra and geometry.
My students have ranged from been the first in their family to go to college, high school students looking to better their SAT scores, adults who want to understand their own children's homework, and students wanting to get that extra help in their class work.
I have worked in work force development for college preparedness, curriculum-based weekly tutoring sessions, and private as-needed sessions, working with students from all kinds of economical and social backgrounds.
