I always liked math and science, but I found what made classes more interesting were the types of teachers. A good teacher can make a big difference in how a student learns and comprehends a subject. Some of the best teachers I had made learning a challenge and knew how to motivate students. They will go beyond the minimum to make sure the student understands the concepts inside and out. To do this, it involves a lot of practice. I believe a student can really understand the material when multiple examples are given. This teaches students how to learn the methods and techniques they will be able to use for any similar problem.
I’m Olivia! I am currently a junior at Duke University studying Mechanical Engineering. I grew up in Las Vegas and graduated with honors at Faith Lutheran High School.
I have varied experience tutoring math. I am either helping out my younger sibling and friends or doing actual tutor work. I currently work part time at Mathnasium tutoring middle school and high school kids in a variety of math topics. I have worked with kids ranging from age 8 to 18. I specialize in subjects of Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. I want to help my students as much as possible during our time, so any outside sources the student or the parent provides are accepted.
