I enjoy supporting people studying psychology up to university undergraduate degree standard. My teaching method is fun and interactive so students can structure and influence their own learning. I have a proven record of outstanding work ethic achieving desired results, as well as building the confidence of those who may need a boost in their self-esteem or to simply understand psychology in the real world more clearer.
A lot of my teaching involves applying theory to psychology and real world contexts. Remembering them and applying them are challenging but I use key techniques to help you understand the relevant theories and how they apply to your work and shaped psychology as we know it today
One of the most challenging aspects of psychology is critical thinking and evaluation. This is something I specialise in and encourage with all of my students (should they wish), and work with you to develop your skills and promote additional approaches you could implement to the critical side of psychology
I am a mental health practitioner of over 4 years working predominantly with mental health patients in NHS and private clinical settings. I have successfully taught and supported many people of varying ages to achieve Undergraduate Degrees in Psychology and related subjects, and also supported younger people to achieve excellent GCSE and A-Level results. I have been providing practical support to people for almost 6 years.
As well as one-to-one teaching, I also provide mental health support and peer mentoring to adults, adolescents and young people with varying forms of mental health, behavioural and special care/educational needs. Furthermore, I occasionally volunteer at a local hospital to support patients who have suffered serious and life changing injuries. Through my own experiences of leg amputation, I encourage individuals on coping with the changes to their lives using mechanisms and techniques I found useful during my recovery.
I have conducted several research projects, mostly based around health but with some educational-based projects too. My research has been conducted using children, parents, teenagers, younger and older adults. Projects focused specifically on impacts to psychological well-being from social, educational and health complications, including; alcohol and drug abuse, diabetes, educational attainment between genders, paediatric to adult healthcare transition and more. Analysis on data collected during research has been conducted using Qualitative and Quantitative methodologies.
