Related Experience * Volunteer intern in 2 middle school art classrooms in San Francisco (San Francisco School Volunteer program). * 3 years of experience in various after school enrichment programs. * Student Teacher through the San Juan Unified School District, CA (grades K, 1st, and 4th). * In home respite care for United Cerebral Palsy, providing respite to families with children with Autism and varying physical disabilities.
When I am asked what my teaching philosophy is, I simply reply that: I plan to foster the development of independence, responsibility, logic, and compassion in all of my students. My combined experience in education and Respite Care working with children with Autism, gives me a unique perspective on working with children and young adults with varying learning styles; one which I believe could truly be utilized, appreciated, and further developed a tutoring setting.
I hope to dedicate my career to education reform by communicating with parents and working with other teachers at the curriculum, pedagogy, and evaluation levels to create a system that addresses the physical, mental, and emotional health of all students.
