When teaching music theory, I choose to start with the very basics, as I believe that music theory is a very cumulative subject. For example, when introducing triads and seventh chords, a student must first know their major and minor thirds.
When teaching Aural Skills, I try to build and reinforce confidence in my students by first singing along with them in exercises and practice, and slowly letting the student try some exercises on their own.
My name is Maddy and I'm a Music Education major at Keene State College! I play flute and am a peer tutor in the areas of Music Theory and Aural Skills at my school. I have completed all four sections in each course, and have a solid understanding of each area!
