I have an MAT in ELA, History, and ESL. I also possess a BA in History and English; a TEFL Certificate, and Teacher Certification. I use a blended learning style of individualized instruction based upon helping my K-12, university level, professional, and immigrant students find their own meaning with the lesson content.
I have been teaching English Language Arts, United States and World History, Civics, and English as a Second Language for 14 years, in Professional Schools, both in live group classrooms, and in online group and 1 on 1 virtual classrooms.
My Feelings When I Work Teaching online:
With me, you are getting so much more than a teacher of English as a Second or Foreign Language. Not only do I teach English to people for whom it is a second language, I am also qualified teach English - Language Arts, including reading and writing. I am thoroughly familiar with the conventions of writing and speaking, not merely grammar but applied grammar as applied to the real world. I do not simply teach grammar rules, I teach my students to communicate, to say and write what they want to say, so that what they communicate will be understood in the manner they wish it to be understood. I also seek a greater understanding of people who are not like me. I accomplish this by talking, teaching, and learning from people who are different from me. I enjoy it. It is not something that I demand from my students, it just happens. I teach because I enjoy learning and because I like sharing what I have learned with others. If my students acquire my love of learning, then I have accomplished much. If they do not acquire my love of learning, they will still learn much from listening to an articulate, native English speaker. I want to help my students accomplish their goals whether that is to gain a promotion; design and construct a presentation in English, land a position at one of their company’s branch offices in the States or in Great Britain, or if they just want to sound better and more confident in emails or over the telephone. Their goals become my goals. . . .

OBJECTIVE: I possess extensive education with a Bachelor's Degree in History and English; furthermore, I was certified and endorsed in teaching English as a Second Language, History, and English - Language Arts. With my Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), I have been teaching since 2005, and am currently teaching and tutoring online.
I first started teaching children when as an undergraduate student, in 1997, I volunteered through the Volunteer Center of Memphis for their "Leaders Are Readers Program." The children I read books to were all young, elementary age. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History and English and went straight into my Master of Arts in Teaching and Teacher Education Program, both at the University of Memphis. I received my Tennessee State Teacher Certification from the Tennessee State Department of Education in the mail in January of 2004. I had completed my Student teaching in the spring of 2003 in a local Memphis City School Middle School, Sherwood Middle School, and Melrose High School, both of which I live about 10 minutes away from. I taught Middle School English as a Second Language at Treadwell Middle-High School in 2005 and 2006. In 2006 and 2007, I taught English - Language Arts at Craigmont Middle School and Trezevant High School. Next, I taught with Learn It Systems, LLC, now Learn Behavioral, I taught remedial children in small group and individual class, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading, Writing, Grammar and the Language Arts, which I was certified by the State of Tennessee Department of Education to Teach back in January of 2004, after I had completed the Student Teaching Component of my Teacher Education Program, in 2003.I have also taught ESL or EFL with Educate Online for a year. My first Online ESL or EFL Teaching Position was part time with EF Englishtown, exclusively group lessons, starting in 2011, teaching K-12 and adults from university age, all the way up to retirees.
