Methodology
I am a vibrant, motivated, and understanding person who enjoys helping others succeed. I have taught elementary school, high school, and have given ESL, TOEFL, TOEIC, and IELTS classes. With respect to tutoring, I have been tutoring for twenty years, and have seen my students achieve their academic goals.
I structure my lessons based on where the particular student is and patiently move to where he/she plans to be. I provide a comprehensive and interesting learning experience which includes clear explanations, great advice, patience, and a lot of direct support. The student is free to ask questions, repetitions, and express his/her concerns at any time. I have a passion for transforming students so that they can reach their full potential.
Background
I have been giving lessons for twenty years in California. During this time, I have taught about a thousand students who have received high school diplomas, high scores on the TOEFL, TOEIC, and IELTS tests, and moved on to colleges, universities, or landed a great position for a job. Luis's resume
I have a Teacher's Diploma from Belize Teachers' College which is the equivalence to a Bachelor's Degree in English and Methodology. I passed the CBEST, and received a CEU from Chapman University after completing a paper on Teaching ESL Practicum. I was presented with honor cards, shields, and trophies for high academic achievement in high school and eloquent speeches. Since English became the international language, I started focusing more on the courses that were based on teaching and imparting English skills. Today I have had the pleasure of meeting people from diverse cultures, and I have learned a lot from them. This has motivated me into wanting to do more to help others.
