My teaching method is simple yet effective.
I work collaboratively with my students to develop a plan of action that focuses on the areas they need the most help on - often vocabulary acquisition, grammar, speaking skills, and others.
I then work with students to both explain concepts in a shame-free space and offer them study tools that they can take beyond our sessions. For example, I use flashcards and pneumonic devices to ensure comprehension of the material.
I always encourage my students to ask questions and I strive to create a friendly environment in which they feel comfortable doing so.
My name is Lori, I have 6+ years of experience as a Spanish tutor. I hold Bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and Latin American Studies from the University of San Francisco and a Master’s in Cultural Anthropology from San Francisco State University. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. at UCLA.
From my days as a Spanish Conversation Tutor at USF where I led conversation groups for students learning 1st and 2nd Semester Spanish, to my 5 years (and counting!) of tutoring high school students in Spanish in a weekly one-on-one setting, I am comfortable teaching the Spanish language at all levels.
I have brought several students from failing to passing grades and have also worked with a variety of learning disabilities.
I look forward to working with you soon! ¡Gracias y nos vemos!

Lori is a trustworthy teacher because she is detail oriented, patient, and understanding. Plus, her passion shines through as she teachers. You can tell that she care about sharing her knowledge of language with others. I have no doubt that Lori will help you become more fluent in Spanish!
Lori and I went through the Master of Arts in Anthropology degree program recently and I leaned on her often for grammar and writing support. Her seminar presentations and research were admired and respected by professors and our cohort alike. Lori's papers were a model for me and she shared her knowledge of the subject, the formats/syntax, and critical analysis skills with me throughout the program. Lori has a patient approach, with a humorous edge, while encouraging excellence. Thorough in her scholarship, Lori is multilingual (Spanish, Armenian, and English), and skillfully employs a variety of modes of online communication. As a public school educator and Spanish learner/speaker myself, I highly recommend Lori to tutor Spanish online.
I have known Lori for about 5 years. We met during graduate studies in the cohort of the anthropology department. Lori always stood out to me as one of the most responsible students. Her dedication, hard work, and thoughtful approach to her studies always inspired me. I frequently sought her opinion and views on new materials for lectures, as well as her feedback on my own projects—even if unrelated to her expertise. Lori would make an amazing teacher who would enrich the experience of her students not just by her knowledge and her desire to pass it on, but also by her wit and omnipresent sense of humor. She can help you make it through even the most boring content and she would do it with charm!
As my cousin, Lori has always been there to help me with Spanish throughout high school. Lori's experience in Central and South American countries makes her an amazing instructor.

I’ve known Lori for the past 10 years and, during our friendship, have admired her passion for travel. She has always been interested in learning about, and sharing, language and culture. Her kindness, patience and enthusiasm for education are an asset to any student.
