I believe physics and math are best learned through solving problems. As an instructor, I like to work through problems with my students, stopping along the way to make sure they understand where each part of the problem and solution comes from. Seeing problems as puzzles and knowing which pieces are needed for each type of puzzle allows students to be able to successfully solve problems over and over again, regardless of if the information is presented in a new way. My services are best suited for high school and college-level students.
I am a graduate of the University of Vermont (UVM) with a Bachelor of Science in physics and minors in math and chemistry. At UVM, I was a teaching assistant for the Physics for Engineers and Introductory Astronomy courses, where I ran lab classes and exam preparation sessions for up to 30 students at a time. I also offered private help sessions to students in need of individualized attention. I have worked as an educational volunteer for the ECHO Science Center in Burlington, Vermont, where I ran interactive demonstrations on various science topics. Through this work and others, I have experience explaining material to a wide variety of backgrounds. Post-college, I have worked as a private physics tutor for a college freshman in an Introductory Classical Mechanics course, bringing their grade from a C to an A, and am currently working on pursuing my dream of going to medical school.
For lessons that are canceled with less than 6 hours notice, I will charge half the lesson price.
