About Anika

Hi! I entered college at the age of 15, aced differential equations at 16, received a full ride scholarship to University of Washington at 18, and have lots of experience teaching my peers throughout the years. I used to work at the U.S. Naval Academy as a research assistant and co-published a journal with the inventor of the APRS communication system. I am 20 now and absolutely love teaching students in high school, college, or those getting ready for entering college for the first or second time. I am available online for zoom meetings as well as for in person meetings.

My teaching style includes taking complex math concepts and breaking them down into the simplest way possible for the student to understand. We also do lots of practice together until the student and I feel that the student has the concept down very well to near perfection. I've taught many students throughout the years ranging from students with ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia, older students (65+) as well as extremely gifted students for enrichment. I like to think of myself as a very positive person, my friends describe me as polite, understanding, patient, and funny.

With respect to my style of teaching, I like to take complex ideas and break them down to the point they sound as simple as 2+2. Usually, it doesn't take very long for me to explain things until the student gets an "aha!" moment. After that, we will go on to practice and within practicing they will get a couple more of those moments. Once they feel ready to tackle harder problems, they feel a lot more equipped and remember the steps to solving a problem very well after this process.

I also like to cater to my students learning style, may that be visual, hands-on, whether they like to explain things back, ask questions, or if they enjoy logical steps. I'm experienced in teaching all kinds of learning techniques and organizing our lessons in a way that optimizes the students confidence in their learning abilities.
