Private school English and Language Arts Teacher in San Jose with a degree in English from UCLA.

Methodology

I base my classes on each individual student. It's important to me that the student has some input in terms of what we will be learning about. Although not every student may enjoy reading or writing, I make it a point to curate the lesson to be about something that they find interest in. By this approach, learning whichever subject becomes a bit more interesting and easier to take in. I emphasize spending time writing essays and working on writing skill because I teach from the experience of writing and English Literature in a university setting.

Background

I have been tutoring and teaching since the beginning of my undergraduate career at UCLA. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, I have been teaching and mentoring at a private school in South Bay. I specialize in curating a unique curriculum for each individual student and making sure that the material is not only interesting, but the necessary writing and critical thinking skills are being taught. I love teaching English, Language Arts, Writing, Editing, and many other humanities subjects.

Micaela's resume

Throughout my undergraduate career, my time was filled with many extracurriculars involving writing, editing, and reading. When I wasn't studying and writing for class, I was doing so in my free time. The power of language, communication, and critical thinking steadily become my passion. As I tutored younger students in many areas of Los Angeles, I realized the importance of active teachers who not only care just about the subject they are teaching, but the students they are teaching as well. My degree in English Literature was a joy to achieve and it led me down a road of wanting to teach and tutor.

Currently, I work as a private school teacher and mentor that specializes in one-on-one teaching. Because of the present circumstances of COVID, I am well adapted to teaching and tutoring via virtual spaces and have many wonderful resources for my students.
