Everyone is an individual. This is the key to my lessons. I recognize that every student has a different reason for wanting to learn how to sew, every student learns in their own way and time, and every student has strengths and challenges. I take in all these factors and create a custom experience for each student. There’s no set pace to the class. There’s no curriculum. I encourage each student to choose their own projects.
We begin working on a project in the first lesson. I will guide the student through the whole process, I not only explain what to do, but also, why it’s done. By the end of the first project, each student will have the foundation for how to read a pattern, the proper way to cut out a pattern, operating a sewing machine, and basic garment construction.
It is inspiring for me to watch each student’s skills and confidence grow while having fun doing it.
I am an experienced sewing instructor with over 30 years as a seamstress. I spent two years as an instructor for children's sewing classes, each class had about 6 students. When I left the sewing school, I moved on to giving individual lessons to students 16 and under.
