About Nick
I am an experienced primary school teacher who places a premium value on knowledge-rich teaching. With me, we will explore concepts in detail, learning and using challenging vocabulary to develop a deep understanding of the concepts we are learning. I am an experienced primary school teacher with a specialism in maths. My teaching is research-informed and adapted to individual needs, meaning lessons are highly-tailored and carefully-considered. Within a one-hour session, we will usually begin with a high-impact retrieval starter which will recall key knowledge. After some discussion about our aims and goals for the session, we will delve into a mathematical concept in great detail- scaffolded where necessary with concrete or pictorial representations designed to enhance learning. Reasoning and problem-solving questions are considered throughout and usually have a real-life element to help embed the mathematical learning being undertaken. Ideally, tutees will be in years 5 or 6.
