My teaching approach includes:
-- ground rules for safety (especially important for children)
-- discussing how to assure great harmony and communication as a teacher-student team
-- what the student can expect to learn, through samples and demonstrations
-- allowing the student say-so in what kind of project s/he wants to produce (patchwork? hand sewing? machine sewing?)
-- listing materials, notions, and equipment that the student should provide (based on the chosen project)
My mother taught me to sew in elementary school, and by the time I graduated high school, designing and sewing my own clothes plus couture evening wear for pay was my main hobby. While enjoying teaching psychology as a Professor, I began attending classes as a student of art and design. I fell in love with art quilting, designing fancy dog jackets, and manipulating fabric for creative surface designs. My work has been exhibited in art shows, and you will find some pieces of it homes across the country, a few projects having sold for hundreds of dollars. You can do it, too! Sew creatively! (P. S. I have been background checked for security in working with children. I love working with adults, too.)
Cancellation policy - Student (or parent, if a minor) should make every effort to cancel a session 24 hours in advance in order to reschedule without financial penalty. No shows will be charged the full session cost unless a last-minute emergency can be verified.
