I usually start by reading over homework or test prep (depending on what the student needs help on) and any practice problems the student has. Then I find out where the understanding level is and what, exactly, the student is struggling with. Depending on the situation, I then guide the student to develop the missing link, as well as help them become more self sufficient in their future learning.
I have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and worked throughout my education as a peer tutor. Topics I worked with particularly were calculus, physics, statics, materials, and machine design. I also have tutored several high school students with calculus, other math, and english classes. I would be excited to tutor high school classes as well as topics from the mechanical engineering curriculum.
Perfect! The first lesson was a success. It was basically an evaluation, and formulating a lesson plan for the foreseeable future. Shannon listen to me, she understood my needs, and hopes very well. She was very peasant and patient.
