Because I have experience teaching and advising students in grades K-12, I am more than comfortable providing instruction to students of any age. My areas of specialty are Writing and Literacy, but I also have a solid background in Math, Science, and Music and would gladly teach courses within these areas as well. My teaching philosophy is based on the fact that good teachers are always learning and the best teaching is founded on relationships. I intend to devote the time and effort to learning about you and your needs first, and then we can get to know the material you are working on together. I am always learning, too, and vow to remain open-minded and flexible in order to best serve you. Finally, my methodology will always vary based on my students and what works best for them, but I will tend to keep my lessons as engaging as possible and give you many opportunities for guided practice until you can conquer the material independently.
Hello! I am a University of Michigan graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Language Arts Education. I have student teaching experience in grades K-8 and I long-term substitute taught in a second grade classroom. I have over two years of experience working for The Graide Network as a grader, reading essays and providing actionable feedback on the essays and assignments written by high school students. I am a freelance writer with a strong command of language and I am eager to use my skills to help you achieve your goals.
You may request tutoring in a subject outside of those I have listed on my profile, and I am up to the challenge! However, depending on whether I need to conduct additional research on the subject matter in order to deliver high quality lessons to you, I may charge an additional $2 / hour for a total of $15 - $17 / hour.
