I approach teaching as a mirror image of learning. That is, I hope my students learn from me as I learn from them. After many years of pursuing my education, I remember the teachers that inspired me to excel and encouraged my insatiable curiosity. These people remain my mentors and role models.
I am a retired attorney after over 20 years of practicing law. Before law school I earned my Master of Arts degree. I wish to remain intellectually stimulated by offering my academic background and experience to students interested in American, English, French, German, and Russian literature. Through the free exchange of ideas and open exploration of great works of literature I hope to both inspire students' minds while I continue my pursuit of a life of learning.
My name is Bill Smith. Recently retired from the practice of law, I want to continue learning as you study and learn.
My curriculum will depend on your needs. We will decide on a syllabus and bibliography during our first session. Reading comprehension and essay writing will be emphasized. I recommend reading How To Read A Book by Mortimer Adler and Charles Van Doren. It remains a classic which I intend to reread.
I look forward to starting. Do not hesitate to call me. I recommend you text me first. Thanks. Bill
