My teaching is individualized to student need. I approach teaching of students using standardized and individualized assessments. In addition to formal and non-formal assessments, I consider strengths and weaknesses of each student. I also use behavior analysis and behavior programming to approach each student and needs they may have on focusing or attending to tasks. I am a very nurturing and patient educator who becomes easily aware of each students needs. My innate pedagogy of teaching has always been mentioned by my supervisors.
I had a Special Education BS in Developmental Cognitive Delayed and Autism Spectrum Disorders. I also have my masters of education. I applied my degrees to my teaching for 34 years. Due to my desire to work with school aged children I continued as an educator through substitute teaching. I taught pre-K through 12 using a variety of education pedagogies in a variety of subjects. While substitute teaching I was hired as a long-term substitute for an Autism Spectrum Disorders classroom. During my extensive years of teaching I also taught extended school year I was assigned to teach extended school year in a program designed for developmentally cognitively delayed students. I also taught summer school to students who required additional services and applications. These needs were determined by their state assessment scores and performance in daily tasks in the general education classrooms.
Due to both individualized and group services teaching style my fee would be the typical rate of a tutor. I will communicate with families by 6:00 each morning if I am unable to tutor that day due to illness.
