My teaching method is one on one, concentrating on homework help and general needs as recommended by the student's teacher or parent. I enjoy making the tutoring experience both helpful and fun for the student. For example I incorporate sudoku puzzles along with math tutoring. Since I speak fluent Spanish I can either tutor Spanish language, or work with Spanish speaking students who may be having trouble in any classes.I play several instruments so would be able to help students learn music skills. Lastly, I play tournament level chess so would love to teach chess to beginners, or work on improving chess skills with intermediate chess players.
I have tutored disadvantaged children in the past in Yakima, Washington, my home town. I have recently retired from theUniversiy of Washington, where worked in Grant and Contract Accounting for ten years. I play piccolo and flute. I also play chess competitively and am a member of the Seattle Chess Club. I would enjoy tutoring math; language; Spanish; music or chess, or all of the above!
