I am a substitute teacher hoping to begin grad school next fall and would like to give a great start at learning music to some kids who not only want to learn a couple songs, but understand the theory of music as well. Reading takes you to be able to learn on your own just like reading music let's you be able to play more music on your own. Music is more of my hobby than my profession, but it is still what I love. Time will be spent on note reading, basic scales, chords and arpeggios, and of course time at the keyboard.
I started learning piano from my mother as a preschooler and started formal lessons in second grade. I currently sing in my church choir, and have played various instruments throughout my life. I have little practice in teaching music, but I am confident I know enough in both teaching techniques and music to get a good start in this subject. Music has been shown to increase academic performance in other subjects as well.
