I adapt my teaching to my audience, first spending time understanding why my student wishes to learn a language and then adjust my lesson plan to that. I believe in flexibility and that a rigid traditional approach does not work for learning a language unless you are also immersed. I have studied Spanish and Mandarin extensively and have learned what works and what doesn’t, while being mindful of the student’s particular learning requirements.
