I approach each student individually. I coach children as young as 5 to adult. I start beginners using a good method book and add other music styles when ready. I also take intermediate students. I am very adamant about teaching the 7 elements of music within each piece.
I have a versatile background being a private piano teacher, soloist, recitalist, church organist, and general music teacher for grades K-8 for 7 years. I have had students go on for their Master's in music education and compete at the state level for Solo and Ensemble, piano division. I have also substitute-taught long-term in General Music twice and in 5 school districts in grades K-12.
A young child would not be good for an hour lesson. One half-hour lesson would be $25 for a young child. If there is travel cost, it would be $30 extra per month. If there happens to be 5 lessons in a month, there is no extra charge for that lesson. It basically all evens out with holiday breaks. I use the school district in my area for deciding holiday breaks.

I took lessons with Star from ages 5-13. I remember lessons with her being goofy yet focused when necessary. She always had faith in me and knew which pieces I could play, even if I thought they looked too difficult myself. Star is a friendly, funny, & talented piano instructor. She will push you to be the piano player you aspire to be.
