I hold a BA in Economics and French from Emory University and an MBA with a specialty in Analytics from the University of Iowa. I have used my typing skills to get me through my higher education and in professional roles that have spanned sales and marketing, data/analytics, and librarianship.

I was lucky to have typing education that began in elementary school reinforced through middle school. By the end of middle school typing nearly 100 words per minute was the norm for me, and by high school I would not have been able to tell anyone the last time I had to actively think about the characters I'd type to appear on a computer screen.
Still, I retain a lot of the process of learning about typing because I found it both challenging and fun. As a Library professional, I have often used the memory of my learning process to help people without sufficient typing skills create business accounts on the Missouri Secretary of State Website, create email accounts and much more.
As a typing coach, my job is to help you retain what you are currently learning and reinforce what you already know. The key to my approach is patience and motivation. A lack of typing skills is a form of illiteracy and there are simply not enough one-on-one live coaches and teachers to help people achieve this form of literacy.
Any QWERTY keyboard typing teacher or learning resource worth their salt, uses home row as the foundation and gradually adds complexity with typing drills. My approach is no different. I leverage a variety of free learning resources so that students are enabled to practice on their own in between sessions. Yes, very motivated people can self-direct, and my offering is for those who learn best with a human provide live examples, hold them accountable and provide gentle adjustments and guidance.
Our work together begins with a conversation: What are your typing goals? What has been holding you back from achieving them? From these two questions the conversation flows and we will come up with a plan of action that works both ways.
