Every student takes in information and learns differently. This is especially true in English. My approach to teaching would be close readings followed by deep conversations about required texts. As far as assignments, we would place a large focus on organization and time management. The lessons that literature and poetry offer to society are endless. We can all learn something new from any text. Tutoring would give me a chance to, not only revise the work of others, but also to communicate the deeper meanings authors want us to hunt for. Analyzing text is one of my biggest strengths as a student and it has inspired me to major in both English and Criminology at the University of Florida here in Gainesville. As a college sophomore, I have already learned so much, and have gained plenty of knowledge to share.
English has been my passion from a young age and I have always wanted to share literature with others. In high school, I took every AP English course available and succeeded despite the challenging workload. I come from a family of teachers and my father taught high school American Literature which I, of course, easily fell in love with. Running the school newspaper was one of the highlights of my high school experience. I learned to write, edit, design, and photograph with many talented individuals. I received awards from the Florida Scholastic Press Association in the Off-Campus News Story and Feature Photography categories. Through journalism classes I was even fortunate enough to attend a Columbia Scholastic Press Association conference in New York City. I was also a student athlete running cross country and track, so I know the challenges of balancing schoolwork and athletic responsibilities. Often, I see student athletes exhausted and neglecting their schoolwork and I would love to help students in these cases through organization. I often helped my friends in high school by editing their essays and my red pen became known throughout my class for its insight and helpful advice. My other experiences include working as an intern for the Sarasota County Democratic Party where I worked in youth outreach and social events with local candidates. I also developed a pet therapy program in the memory care unit at a local nursing home where I provided emotional support for those suffering from various forms of dementia. My community service earned me an award in my home town of Bradenton, FL. In 2019 I was presented with the Golden Herald Award in social science. It was an honor to help those of my community and I am ready to extend my knowledge and services to the great city of Gainesville through tutoring.
For both middle and high school students I will work at a flat rate of $20 an hour (plus $5 is travel is required). Please note that students in higher level English courses such as AP classes will likely require more sessions. I look forward to working with all students!

Kalli had a strong love for English literature, as well as a passion for helping others. She has personally helped me look over multiple essays, including the essay that allowed me to be admitted into UF.
Kalli's patient, compassionate personality, combined with her knowledge of editing, passion for literature and literary analysis qualify her as an optimal tutor is this subject area. I would highly recommend Kalli as a tutor/mentor.
-Allison Dain, Reading Teacher
Kalli is an extremely bright young lady who would do well teaching other students in her area of expertise. Her demeanor is calm and patient, and will be able to provide feedback in a communicative way that is relatable to students and the world today. Kalli has always had a strong grasp of Literature and will be able to teach the art of examining the values in literary text. I have personally known Kalli since she was a young child, and have also had the privilege to be her school administrator, where she was highly regarded by all her teachers. If you want to work with someone that will patiently help you understand English Literature in a holistic approach I highly recommend Kalli!
Kalli is superstar-teacher-in-the-making. I have known her for several years and I have watched her grow into a strong leader and a compassionate, caring person who strives to bring out the best of those around her. She has a natural ability to explain things in a way that both simplifies and enriches complicated concepts, which is ideal for a tutor. I cannot recommend her enough. She is the best!
I have known Kalli for five years through my position as Language Arts Department Chair at Braden RIver High School. Dedicated, intelligent, creative, and passionate about helping others, she is sure to assist those fortunate enough to work with her through a tech-savvy mindset, a disciplined approach, and an insightful eye for analysis.
I recommend Kalli due to the fact that she follows through with each and every obligation, and she sees the value in everyone. A true educator!
I have known Kalli for about 3 years now and ever since I met her, she has always been passionate about literature and writing. She is her biggest critic, demanding only perfection from herself and her writing. Because of this, I have asked her multiple times to help me revise many of my papers for school knowing that she would improve my papers. I recommend her because not only does she revise your papers, but she also makes you think about how you can improve your writing. Overall she is one of the best writers that I know.
Kalli has been working with me on editing papers with me for the last 2 years. She helps me a lot with the spelling and flow of my essays. She’s very helpful and easy to work with. Working with Kalli has taught me a lot.
Kalli is a fantastic teacher to work with. She is patient, kind, and very knowledgeable. Even with challenging concepts she finds a way to simplify them for better understanding. I would highly recommend Kalli to anyone who is struggling in their English class.
I worked with Kalli in a student news publication, where she served as Assistant Editor-In-Chief. Kalli is an extremely talented writer and a very patient and kind person. New students in our organization could always count on Kalli for solid writing advice. I would highly recommend Kalli to be your tutor!
I went to high school with Kalli and she helped me edit for both my ENC1101 and ENC1102 classes and I was able to gain college credit through her help. She was also great in helping me with my creative writing classes as she is an avid reader with a creative mind. We both live in Gainesville now and she is always ready to help me when I need it. I strongly recommend her as a tutor! She will help you achieve great things.
