When I teach English vocabulary
-First and foremost, I will pronounce the vocabulary word first.
-Next, I will ask the student repeat after me.
After the student(s) have repeated after me for a few times, I will explain to that student the definition (meaning) of the vocabulary word.
-Then, I will ask the student write the vocabulary word a few times, so that he or she can learn how to spell the word.
-Finally, I will ask the student to pronounce the vocabulary word that he or she just learned a few times.
When I teach reading comprehension in English
-I will read the sentence or story to that student, and ask if he or she comprehends what is the meaning of the sentence I just read or what the story that I just read is about.
-If the student does not understand what the sentence that I just read means, or what the story I just read is about, I will explain to the student what the sentence means, or what the story I just read is about.
-If the student still does not understand what a certain part of the sentence means, or what the story is about, I will attempt to explain what the sentence or story means by using an analogy. For example, when a cell phone is turned off due to the fact that the battery is dead, then a person should charge the phone. When a person is exhausted, he or she should sleep to regain his or her energy.
Sleeping is equivalent to charging your phone.Sleeping helps a person regain energy while charging a phone helps the phone regain energy.
When I teach English writing
-I will teach the student how to write an effective introduction "hook" (interest) readers into reading their essays naturally.
-I will tell students the elements they need to include in the body paragraphs of their essays.
-I will teach them the elements that they should include in an essay to make their essays flow more easily and effectively.
-I will also teach them how to conclude their essays ( write an effective conclusion).
I am considerate, patient, and detail-oriented.
Who The Lessons Are For
The lessons are for middle school students, high school students, and adults.
I am a bibliophile (someone who loves books). Young adult (YA) books are right up my alley; I read fantasy, science fiction, and romance novels.
I am a logophile (someone who loves words). I use big with a capital B vocabulary words every once in a while when talking to friends.
I am also a Francophile who loves everything that is French; French cuisine, French dessert, and French stationery. My dream is to visit Paris someday, so I fulfill my heart's desire and consume all types of French desserts including crème brûlee,éclair, and Paris-Brest.
As someone who is also a caffeine addict, I am always in search of the perfect cup of coffee and croissant! I think that you can't go wrong with a cup of coffee and a croissant (chocolate or otherwise)..
Last but certainly not least, I aspire to be a polyglot in the future.Besides English (my native tongue) I studied Spanish in high school, and French and Italian in college. My ultimate dream is to go backpacking through Europe!
