Well depending on what the student brings me to help them with, I would go with the teaching approach that would fit them the best. To find that out I would teach them as I go and ask them which technique helped them understand the material better. Since I will be tutoring math or chemistry, would like to start off with writing everything out on blank pieces of paper to space everything out. Here, I would go over questions that they are having trouble with and once I get them to understand it I will give practice problems. I will do that until they are able to understand it well!
I have been the head teacher at the Sunday school at my temple for a few years. I can tutor up to Alegbra 2 and can help with chemistry up to the high school level or general chemistry. This would be my first time tutoring like this, but I have helped of children at my temple get better math scores at school. I also have been a cadet teacher in Creekside Middle School for a year when I was looking to be a teacher as a major but then changed my mind and got into dental hygiene!
I live with three roommates so home would not be the best place for us to study, in case we really need to get a tutoring session in. We could go to the Indiana State Library or a Starbucks near the IUPUI campus. I would like to stay in that area due to me not always having transportation, those are the best places for me to ride my bike to.
I might be willing to negotiate with the rate but that also depends also on my situation, and if we go over a little bit I won't charge it! (unless it is 30-60 min over)
