I have a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from Texas A&M. Not math, however, I started as a math major and have a passion for it, as well as for teaching. I have the skill and the patience required to teach students who are struggling with algebra as well as elementary level math.
When teaching algebra, it is important to break each equation down into simple steps resulting in the final answer. When I tutor, I stress each step being completed because most classroom teachers require the equations written out step by step or the student will not receive credit (even if the student can reach the final answer in 2 steps as opposed to 4).
My high school math tests were used by my teacher as grading rubrics and I am ready to help other students get to that level! :)
I have actually only taught one student in the past. My husband and I manage a ranch outside of Kingsville and that is what I do most of the time. The one student I did get to teach last year was very successful with math inside of the classroom after our private lessons. She was the youngest in her class and felt like she was always behind.
I am very confident in my teaching abilities and I love doing it!
I do not charge a travel fee unless it is more than 25 miles away.
Heather formerly homeschooled my kindergarten aged daughter. She was an outstanding, patient teacher for my daughter. She was well organized, and presented herself in a professional manner towards my family. I highly recommend her as a teacher at any level.
