Too often, students struggle through the minutia of math; they memorize problem-solving algorithms, and in doing so, don’t understand what their calculations signify. I begin with a broad explanation of the topic, as to contextualize it and facilitate long-term understanding over short-term memorization. I supplement this with practice problems during the lesson, and will recommend brief problem sets between lessons to cement their knowledge.
I’m trained in subjects from elementary Algebra to Multivariable Calculus, taken at Thomas Jefferson HS for Science and Technology. I am a rising freshman at the University of Chicago with three years of individual tutoring experience.
